Dewulf opens new logistics centre
Dewulf has opened a new 7,800m² logistics centre at company HQ in Roeselare, Belgium. Costing EUR10 million, and the largest financial investment since the company was founded in 1946, the new building can accommodate 8,500 pallets, with plenty of additional storage space for larger items. Some 12,500 part numbers are now available from stock, and with 35,000 order pickings and 7,500 orders handled each year, the company says 99% of the 300 daily orders processed in the new building will be shipped out the same day.
Linked by a glass-covered bridge to the root crop harvester production halls, the company says the new warehouse will allow it to better serve its customers and dealers. The software system (expected to be fully rolled out by the end of this year) continuously recalculates which parts are needed based on customer orders and the status of the assembly process. The data is automatically passed on to the logistics personnel, and will soon integrate with courier systems.
"The new building will allow us to provide our customers and dealer with even smoother delivery of machines and replacement parts," said Dewulf sales, marketing and after-sales director Hendrik Decramer.
