Krone releases maize header for other brands
Growing interest from the forage harvester market is behind Krone’s decision to make its variable width EasyCollect forage maize header available for use with Claas, John Deere and New Holland SPFH. Offered in working widths of 4.5m, 6m, 7.5m and 9m (6, 8, 10 and 12 rows), full specification and option details for adapting the header to third-party brands are available from Krone dealers.
For those of you unfamiliar with the EasyCollect, maize stalks are grouped and guided past fixed blades, cut off and fed lengthwise into the pre-compression rollers and the chopping assembly. This lengthwise entry is claimed to improve chop-length precision.
Benefits of the design include a reduction in the number of components and drives compared to conventional headers, which says the manufacturer, not only results in less wear and tear and reduced operating costs, but also a significantly lower power input. This means a less powerful SPFH can carry a wider header than is normally possible, says Krone. Depending on the type of forage harvester, the new forage maize header can be equipped with optional active ground contour following and an automatic steering system.
