Fifth generation of the AVR Puma

Increased user-friendliness and capacity were key issues for AVR engineers when developing the fifth generation of the Puma four-row harvester.There are so many updates it is a job to know where to start, although main ones include the more powerful 551hp Volvo engine, the upgraded hydraulic system and the 20% larger cleaning area. Bunker capacity is up 25% to 10t, and to quickly unload this larger volume, a parallelogram construction lifts the bunker by 40cm for 50% faster unloading. Maximum unloading height is 4.6m and the possibility to reach across four rows to unload is useful when opening a field.The upgraded haulm topper provides 40% more rotor power, and steering angles of the front and rear axles have been increased to 55° and 24°, respectively. Inside the Claas X11 cab, there is a new user interface, and images from 18 cameras can now be displayed on one large touchscreen.With an empty weight of 28.5t, prototypes were evaluated this season, and 15 pre-production units will be out next year. The latest Puma will be on the Belgian manufacturer’s stand at Agritechnica.
