Yanmar tests field robot concept

Yanmar is the latest company to develop an electrically powered field robot. The Japanese-made machine is called the e-X1.Following hot on the heels of the Kuhn Karl unveiled at Agritechnica, the prototype of the e-X1 is the result of work by Yanmar Ag, a subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings.Unveiled at a stakeholder event, the front and rear linkages on the compact battery-powered machine can accommodate various implements, such as cultivators and mowers.The rubber tracks, which look like they could have been borrowed from a Yanmar mini excavator or construction site dumper, are said to increase stability on slopes and uneven land. With no driver’s seat, the machine is controlled remotely and Yanmar says that it is considering developing an autonomous driving mode.The rest of the spec is under wraps for now. All the Japanese company is prepared to add now is that the e-X1 will be subjected to further tests this year.
