John Deere launches compact sprayers

The compact dimensions of the two-model John Deere 300M series launched at Agritechnica are said to be perfect for farms with narrow access roads.Deere acquired Italian sprayer manufacturer Mazzotti summer 2017, and the new green and yellow sprayers, which are made in Ravenna, share some of their technology, including the Stage V engines and cab, with the latest MAF models.But there are some major differences. For example, the two 300Ms have an adapted chassis and different wheel motors. They are also fixed height machines whereas the height on the Mazzotti models is variable.Top speed of the hydrostatic tranny in the two Deere models, the 332M and 340M, 50km/hr. The 332M (3,200l) is powered by a 175hp four-cylinder (4.5l) engine. Available with 24m and 28m steel or air-assisted booms, the turning circle is 3.8m.Tank capacity of the 340M on display at the German show is 4,000l. The motor is a 225hp (6.8l) six-pot, and boom options are steel (24 and 36m) and air-assisted versions up to 36m. The turning circle is 4.2m.Both steel and stainless-steel (with air sleeve) booms are available. Both types are available with individual nozzle control. With a 50:50 weight distribution, track width on both sprayers is automatically adjustable from 1.5-1.8m, 1.8-2.25m and 2.25-3.0m. The wheel base of the 332M and 340M is 3.1m and 3.4m, respectively.The front mounted position of the new Cat IV cab is said to provide good all-round and boom visibility, and the seats are both suspended and heated. Already used on the trailed model R700i, the PowrSpray two-circuit liquid system offers fast filling of up to 600l/min on the 300Ms and a precise output of 750l/min at three bars.Equipped with a StarFire receiver, G5 Universal Display and JDLink, the two new sprayers will be available in France, Poland, Spain and the UK next year.
