Double-digit growth for Lemken
Strong demand for new ploughs, compact disc harrows, drills, cultivators and sprayers were largely responsible for the 11% increase in Lemken sales last year to EUR360 million. The company says the upturn was recorded in all markets but particularly strong in Russia and the Ukraine. The company also enjoyed double digit machine sales in Canada and the US, and good results were achieved in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the UK.
The company reckons the high level of incoming orders at the beginning of the year indicates that 2018 will be another year of positive growth. The demand for new machines from technology-hungry farms continues in Eastern Europe, and especially in Russia, where Lemken is examining the possibility of manufacturing in the country. The firm expects further growth in Germany and Central Europe, and anticipates some improvement in France where investment in new machinery has been sluggish during the past couple of years.
