Festive facelift for the Comprima

It is 40 years since Krone introduced its first round baler, the KR 180 in 1977, and to celebrate the occasion the modern-day Comprima models have been given a facelift. The revamp, which includes new side panels and rear guards as well as a revised lighting system, is applicable to all seven models from the fixed chamber to the semi-variable chamber and baler wrapper combination. The updates are not limited to the modern styling, and a 2.15m camless pick-up is now part of the standard specification. Designed to pull in wide swaths, the helically arranged tines pick up crop in a staggered fashion, which says Krone, significantly reduces the risk of peak loads.

Other new features include an ultrasound sensor to replace the sensor arms on the wrapping table and an additional wheel on the bale turner to protect the swath. The electronic and the hydraulic systems have also been updated and are now compatible with the KMC job processor, and LED work lights are a new option. Peripheral film wrap continues to be available for all Comprima models, and there is no change to the proven Novogrip system. The new-look Comprima will be on display at Agritechnica, where the 40th anniversary celebrations continue with a range of discounts and activities.
